Lake Michigan Trip

Decided to take a little ride on my Jackpot last week - here she is ready for the road.
A sweet '71 Monte Carlo parked by me at a gas station. After spending the night at Wisconsin Dells, headed to the HD museum in Milwaukee.Saw some cool bikes.Camped that night in Escanaba. All was well, after I fixed my tent using electrical tape. After waking up soaking wet, in sub-50 degree temps, with a hip cramp from hell, I determined that my tent was no longer going to be used on this trip - hello cheap motels! Good thing I had my tetanus updated a few years ago...Stopped on the north shore for a photo session.Crossed the Mackinaw Bridge. Not a very fun task for a person who does not like heights. I was just fine until I looked down through the metal grating...Found M119, a.k.a. "The Tunnel of Trees." The most scenic road I've ever been on.Got stung by a bee. Funny, neither my ass or shoulder hurt anymore, but my neck felt like it was on fire for a few hours. After spending the night in Michigan City, IN, I headed over to South Bend to check out the Notre Dame campus. I wasn't welcome there...Ran into rain, at least Sonic had good coffee. After waiting out the storm for an hour or so, I decided to head back out once the wind settled down. Yeah, I wasn't joking about the rain - both Louisville, KY and Indianapolis had some major flooding that day. It was funny, the whole time I was riding I was thinking "Riding in the rain usually doesn't suck this much..."
Found Parkersburg, IN. I grew up in Parkersburg, IA, so I had to take a picture of the sign. And while I was riding through Parkersburg, IN, I found a Boozefighters clubhouse. Too bad no one was around... So I ended up with just under 2600 miles on the trip. It had its ups and downs, but even the downs felt like ups. Well, at least it beat the hell out of spending the week at work. I should have taken more pictures, but I was having too much fun riding. I think next year, I'm heading west...
